I'm not a huge Ariana girlie (do love the 'Sweetener' album tho, especially the title track and the singles), but on my two listens to 'Petal,' "Bad Thing (Bunny Hop)" jumped out at me super strongly. Ariana always has at least one song per album that sticks with me, and this is the one! I don't expect to return to 'Petal' as a whole tho, bc i agree with y'all — it all kinda blurs together and feels uninspired and done-before, especially thematically.
Loved this review! I didn’t resonate with this album but as I become more conscious of what my music taste has been morphing into lately (as a person, I’m best at analyzing the quantifiable over the qualitative..) reading another person’s perspective always teaches me so much. Thank you!!
It’s funny, I feel like overall I’m pretty meh on the album but we did try to focus more on what we liked than what we didn’t! I try really hard not to write off albums too quickly, especially from an artist like Ari that I’ve liked for a long time
